The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme 2023/24 is open for application from 1 September 2022 at 12:00 noon Hong Kong Time. The deadline for initial applications is 1 December 2022 at 12:00 noon Hong Kong Time.
The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS), which was established by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong in 2009, intends to entice the best and brightest students in the world to pursue their PhD studies in Hong Kong’s universities.
Students with a 16-year bachelor’s degree are also eligible to apply (Direct PhD). Holders of an MPhil or a Bachelor’s degree are both eligible to apply for a Hong Kong PhD scholarship. There are fully funded fellowships available at the top 8 universities in Hong Kong. Application fees for the Fellowship are not required. Under the HKPFS 2022, students may apply in the following academic fields: business studies, humanities, social sciences, engineering, and medicine. The full cost of attendance at the top universities in Hong Kong will be covered by this fellowship. Scholarship Benefits/Duration:
Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) 2023/24 for International Students is a Full Free Scholarship. All the successful applicants will have-
For a period of up to 3 years, the Fellowship offers each awardee an annual salary of HK$325,200 (about US$41,690) and a travel allowance for conferences and research-related travel of HK$13,600 (around US$1,740).
In the academic year 2023–2024, 300 PhD Fellowships will be given out. The universities that received the awards may offer additional support to recipients who require longer than three years to earn their PhDs. Please speak with the relevant universities directly for more information.

How can You apply for PhD Fellowship Scheme in Hong Kong?
Before submitting applications for PhD admission to their top universities, qualified candidates must first submit an initial application online through the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme Electronic System (HKPFSES) by December 1, 2022, at 12:00 a.m. Hong Kong Time.
For their PhD studies under the HKPFS 2023/24, applicants may select up to two programs or departments at one or more universities. They should adhere to the entrance requirements of the universities and programs they have chosen.
Candidates should submit their first applications as early as possible to guarantee they have enough time to submit applications to universities, as the deadlines for some universities may immediately follow that of the Initial Application.

Step 2: Submit Applications to Proposed Universities:
After completing an initial application, You should submit full applications for their selected Ph.D. programs to the proposed universities quoting their HKPFS Reference Number before the universities’ respective deadlines.
